Classic Novels, semester literature course, January-May 2022

a one-semester course which guides students in deepening their understanding and appreciation of the novel and its ability to create worlds and to develop our understanding, imagination, and empathy. Students will be provided with ample opportunity both to discuss and write about their views and learning. The novels covered in this course are Tale of Two Cities (Dickens), Animal Farm (Orwell), Tuck Everlasting (Babbit), and Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury). As it is a high school credit course, students are expected to do the majority of their work outside of class, spending about 60 minutes daily on reading, studying and writing. During class time, students will discuss assigned readings, demonstrating their understanding of story content, authors, and vocabulary. Tuesdays, 2:30-3:45, Winter Semester 2022, January 11 – May 3.
